Drawer Concepts

Here is one concept for how the drawers would be on the interior of the cabinet. I am thinking that you want to have a normal looking piece of furniture so the drawers could be the same on all the concepts as they will be hidden.

The colors are just to distinguish the main drawer part and the cover. The gap in the front of the drawer would function as a handle and also allow you to lift the music up from the bottom of the drawer.
The top will slide into the bottom if you wanted to transport the music anywhere.

Here is a drawing of the inside of what any of the concepts could look like. The drawers will slide out and there will be a number of tops/shelves. They could cover the drawers for transport and also provide a spot to support a drawer while you are looking at the music.

This is just a sketchy view of the above picture.

I also thought about trying to use this type of handle on the drawer. Or at least something where you could place a label. I'm sure it would be difficult to remember which music is in which drawer without labels.

Grandma Shipp's Cabinet

This is a design that I don't really think works for your situation but  I really like it. My Grandma Shipp has this cabinet in her basement and it has always interested me.

It has many small drawers in it and some of the drawers are double-height.

The handles are integrated into the drawer front in a geometric shape.

Dry Sink

I didn't get a chance to draw my interpretation of this in SketchUp but these are some pictures I was going to use for inspiration.

Sideboard 1

This sideboard style might be more in keeping with the dining room.

I used a few different options for color and also wine storage of course.

Sideboard 2

This is quite similar to Sideboard 1 but it has the shelf on the bottom.

Thought you might want something else to dust. :)

Sideboard 3

I thought you might need more music storage than the previous two designs so this provides that.

Also, shown in solid cherry wood.

And painted of course.

Sideboard 4

Same thing but no wine storage.

Or only three doors instead of four.

Pie Safe 1

Here is the first version of a pie safe.

It has two simple doors which the music drawers would be behind.

The metal panels could be tin or copper depending on taste.

I have shown it in cherry wood but it could also be painted.

Pie Safe 2

This is similar to the other pie safe but with the addition of drawers at the top.

The drawers could also be at the bottom.

And the doors could be solid instead of the metal inserts.

I thought it might be nice to have some drawers to hold either musical supplies or things for the dining room since that is where it will be located.

These are quite similar to the design you sent me from Ethan Allen.

Pie Safe 3

This is a skinny pie safe.

Slightly different styles for the "feet".

Woven Doors

This picture might be a little confusing.

This is another option I was going to try to draw in SketchUp but I ran out of time. I actually paused 'Gran Torino' while I was watching it and took a picture of the TV screen.

It's a cabinet where the front of it is kind of woven. I was thinking this could be applied to many of the above concepts in place of the punched tin panels. When I get back I'll try to show this on some of the concepts.

Art Deco

This is my favorite one of the bunch.

It has rounded doors on the front and is actually two pieces with the stand and the cabinet. It is made mostly of a dark wood with a light wood veneer on the doors.

I'm not saying this fits your dining room the best but I just like it the best.

It is also the one that would take the most learning on my part to actually construct.
